Engineering Services for EDM Customers

Graphel Carbon Products is a leading provider of carbon and graphite products that cater to a variety of industries, including aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and more. However, Graphel Carbon Products also offers a wide range of engineering services that can help customers solve complex challenges and improve their manufacturing processes.

One of the key engineering services offered by Graphel Carbon Products is design and engineering support. Their experienced engineers can work closely with customers to develop customized solutions that meet their specific requirements. From initial concept design to final product delivery, Graphel Carbon Products’ engineering team can support the entire product development process.

“When a customer contacts us, we listen and gather information to understand what the customer wants fully,” says Bill Heyser, a 30-year employee, and Engineering & I.T. Manager. “After we assess the problem, we usually ask questions and request additional information to help service the customer. This would include prints or CAD files and requires more detailed information about the application. Once the team has everything to work on a solution, we will proceed with a team Engineering review. If it is a new design, we will create some concepts or put together some mockups to help the customer understand the solution we are putting together. Once approved, the Engineers can begin the quoting process. “

Graphel Carbon Products also offers manufacturing process improvement services. Their engineers can analyze a customer’s manufacturing process and identify areas for improvement. They can then develop and implement solutions to help customers reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase productivity.

“Recently, we teamed up with a company in which we reversed Engineered several different pieces of hardware in which we were needed to design and manufacture electrodes,” said Nathan Buchanan, a 25-year employee who works as a Tooling/Electrode Design Engineer. “We designed seven different sets of electrodes in two weeks. Several of these electrodes had complicated 3D contours that had to be machined and had a very tight tolerance.” These electrodes can be seen on a YouTube video by The Titans of CNC Machining. The electrodes were made from EDM-3 graphite material from Entegris|POCO Materials. Graphel Carbon Products is the largest Distributor of Entegris|POCO EDM graphite in the world.

“The success of the Engineering Team stems from the openness and sharing of ideas,” said Heyser. “The members of our team all have different talents and skill sets that we leverage together to develop solutions for our customers. We have seen many things in many different industries to help support our customers’ needs. We aim to create a friendly and informative experience to satisfy our customers’ needs.”

Graphel Carbon Products’ engineering services are designed to help customers improve their product development process and achieve their manufacturing goals. With their expertise and experience, customers can rely on Graphel Carbon to deliver high-quality solutions that meet their unique needs.
